New Year.... New Website.. Exciting New Changes!

So, Your probably wondering what is going on over here for the New Year, and there are some big, exciting changes coming for Issy Schmid Imaging. First and foremost... This blog is being retired, but don't worry, everything will still exist here and has been copied over to my new website. I have been completely rebuilding my website over the past few weeks, and instead of having a website and a blog, I will now I have everything centrally located on one website... better known as .. A Blogsite. So from now on, to see all the new blog posts, as well as my photo galleries, you will head over to www.issyschmidimaging.com Issy Schmid Imaging. Vanessa and Martin - Married Cherry Hill, NJ

On the limo ride from the hotel to the reception I told Vanessa that I think we were seperated at birth. I knew as soon as I saw the shoes that she and the bridesmaids were wearing I knew it was going to be a good day. Vanessa had all my favorite things on her wedding day... colored shoes (in pink!), sparkles, an amazing dress, and she had the Britney station playing on Pandora. Could this day get any better? Well.. it did. I have to say that I felt more like a wedding guest that just happened to be photographing the day than I did the hired vendor. The bridesmaids felt like friends, and Vanessa and Martin even had a little table for us at the reception. Vanessa looked so gorgeous, and I couldn't wait to see the look on Martins face as she was heading down the aisle. We took advantage of the snow we got that day, and got a few snowy portraits right before the party started.I also took what my be my all time favorite bridal party picture... in a hallway of all places... It was such a great day. I hope you guys are enjoying Vegas!

My flower girl Victoria... growing up

Almost 5 years ago when I asked Victoria to be the flower girl in our wedding I also made a commitment to be part of her life and be there for her for her big events. Sometimes you meet people who you just know were meant to be part of your life. Victoria, her little sister Amanda and her parents Michelle and Chuck are those people to us. We have been so lucky to be there for birthdays, holy communions, holidays and now.... the dance. I can't believe how much these little girls have grown up. So, when Michelle called me to see if I could be there for Victoria's dance, I couldn't wait to see her all dressed up. Its crazy that the little girl who impressed everyone at my wedding with her dance moves was so grown up and ready for her own dance. I look forward to all the good times we have ahead of us with these guys.

What a way to close out my 2011 wedding season then with an awesome couple with a unique style. If I had to describe Michelle on her wedding day, I would say that she was my rock and roll barbie doll. They didn't miss a thing when it came to the look and feel of the wedding from the cake topper, to the black birdcage veil, lace gloves, and some black sparkly shoes. The flowers were a perfect fit, and were done by one of my favorite florists Savannah's Garden.

The night before Michelle and Steve's wedding I went to the midnight showing of Twilight Breaking Dawn. For anyone who has been reading this blog for a while you know how much of a Twilight fan I am, and that I am a sucker for a love story. So, I felt that what could be a better way then to show off a real life love story then to put together a slideshow to close out my wedding season. Of course, I still had the Twilight movie on the brain. I used that as my inspiration when putting this together, and used the song that Bella walked down the aisle to. So from a movie wedding to a real life one, check out this perfect wedding day.

Michele and Dan -Married Talamore Country Club Ambler, PA

Michele and Dan really got the most perfect fall day for a wedding. The fall colors outside really just added to the feel of the whole day. Dan and Michele chose to do a first look at the Joseph Ambler Inn, and I think I could have stayed there all day for photos. We got a chance to do some photos outside the country club before the ceremony as well, and we got some great light to work with. Michele looked so gorgeous, and I could tell that Dan thought the same thing as soon as he saw her all dressed in white. The wedding ceremony and reception were held at the Talamore Country Club in Ambler, PA. The ceremony was very personal and both Dan and Michele's vows mentioned their super cute Boston Terrier pup Barkley. You probably remember Barkley from earlier this year when he was in their engagement photos. One thing about this crowd was that they knew how to party. The dance floor was completely packed, and everyone was having a great time. I hope you guys had a great time on your honeymoon Dan and Michele!

Becky and Neil -Engaged Bartram Gardens Philadelphia, PA

I have lived a few minutes outside of Philadelphia for my entire life, and I had never heard of Bartram Gardens until Becky and Neil chose this location for their engagement shoot. Right inside of an urban area of the city sits this little gem aside the river. There were gardens of flowers,a little field of strawberry patches, and at one point I realized that I was shooting from a garden of mint and basil. I have known Becky and her 2 sisters since we were young when we were all cheerleaders for the same organization. Becky and Neil make for such a cute couple, and we had so much fun shooting with them. We cant wait until their wedding this June.

Michelle and Eric - Married Northhampton Country Club

A couple weekends ago, Austin and I spent the day shooting the wedding of Michelle and Eric. One thing you are going to notice is that 4 brides in a row on this blog will be named Michelle... Crazy huh? Anyways... back to this wedding day. We started off the day with a beautiful ceremony in Bristol PA, and then headed out to the Northampton Country Club in Richboro,PA. The church where they were married was impressive and gorgeous. Michelle and Eric didn't really think about the fact that since it was October, we were going to run out of sunlight before we even made it to the Country Club. So, we turned this into an opportunity to get some awesome night shots like we have never done before. This is definitely the first time that the moon has made an appearance in the bride and groom formals for me, and I'm excited about it. Michelle and Eric had a huge bridal party with a total of 24, and everyone had a great time at this wedding. Thanks for having us spend your special day with you!

Michelle and Pete - Engaged- Heritage Vineyards and Winery Mullica Hill, NJ

I always like when my couples choose a location for their engagement shoot that has meaning to them, and Michelle and Pete did exactly that. Michelle and Pete chose a local winery that they like to go to, and it was a perfect location for an engagement session. Heritage may just have got themselves two new regulars, as Austin and I loved it here. We met Michelle and Pete last October when Pete was the best man at Jenny and Mike's wedding. Since then, they got engaged and started planning their own fall wedding for next year, and we are excited to be photographing them. We spent some time in the vineyards, and then we had to get a few photos with their children (2 super cute shih tzu puppies), and finished off the shoot by cracking open a bottle of wine.

What could be better than getting married on a gorgeous day and dancing the night away surrounded by tanks of sharks and fish? Not much... Last year when we did Tara and Steve's engagement photos, we knew that their wedding was going to be quite the event. Their attention to details, and all the planning effort really paid off on this day. One of the best things about Tara and Steve is that they love photography, and gave us plenty of time to be able to get some great portraits of them with their bridal party in a handful of different, fun locations. The only problem with so many great photos opportunities, is that I had trouble picking out my favorites for this blog post, so that is why there are going to be over 40 photos in this post. I loved everything about this wedding from the locations to the dress and bridesmaid dresses, and of course all the Pink flowers and details. Oh... and let me just tell you about the shoes... oh nevermind... I will just show you!

Alis and Donnie -Married Running Deer golf club Pittsgrove, NJ

I really love September weddings, because its just when the chaos of the hot humid summer finally settles down leaving us with perfect days for beautiful outdoor weddings. Donnie and Alis really could not have picked a more perfect day for their wedding celebration. We got to shoot at one of my favorite wedding venues,Running Deer Golf Club in Pittsgrove, NJ. They have a great setup for outdoor weddings and cocktail hour. We also got to work with one of our favorite and very talented florist, Savannah's Garden I am really a bit obsessed with how awesome Alis's bouquet was, and amoungst the flowers in her bouquet, was her mom's handkerchief from her own wedding. This wedding was actually a Sunday brunch wedding, so I have to say that serving eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, and a whole spread of lunch foods as well gets an A+ from me. I also can't help but mention the Red Velvet Cupcakes from Century Bakery, because I got to have one and it tasted even better than it looked. By the end of the day, I felt like we had known Alis, Donnie, and their friends and family for years, and I'm so glad that I got to be part of their special day.

The only bad thing about having a Sunday wedding between September and February. Caught!

Kristen and Shane Married The Merion Cinnaminson, NJ

I have decided to do something a little different for Kristen and Shane's wedding debut, and put the photos into a slideshow rather than just posting them here. I will add a few, but check out the slideshow below to see over 90 images that tell the real story of Kristen and Shane's wedding day. I have to say that Kristen, Shane, and their wedding party were real troopers that day, because it may have been the hottest day of the summer. When we saw the weather was going to be gorgeous and sunny all day I was excited... until I saw the part where it was going to be over 100 degrees all day. The heat didn't stop anything though, and we were still able to get some great outdoor portraits. The wedding ceremony took place in Maple Shade, and was followed up with a grand reception at The Merion in Cinnaminson, NJ. It's a Girl...Baby Chloe ...

Well, if you read the post before this one then you knew that Jenna and Mark were expecting a little one. Last night we got together to get some pictures of their little bundle of joy. Baby Chloe wasn't too happy about most of our ideas that included taking the binky away, or trying to make her fall asleep, but I was still able to grab some really cute photos of her. I am beyond excited for these two, and they already make great parents. I can't wait to see Chloe grow and experiance lots of new things. Onto the little cutie pie...

A few weeks ago when I took these photos for Jenna and Mark, they were patiently awaiting the arrival of their little bundle of joy. They waited the whole 9 months without finding out the sex of baby which made the anticipation even more exciting. So, the baby is actually already here, but I'm not posting the name or gender. It's a surprise because tomorrow I am shooting the newborn photos for them, so you will just have to stay tuned to find out if it was a boy or a girl. If you have been reading my blog for a while, you already know that these two are one of my favorite couples, and you may remember their perfect spring wedding last year, which you can check out their wedding photos and slideshow here. I am so lucky to be part of this journey they are on together.

Melissa and Adam- Married Newark, DE

Getting Jiggy With It.... thats really the best way to describe the wedding day of Melissa and Adam. We started off the day with a little Backstreet Boy reminiscing with the girls getting ready, and it set the mood of the rest of the day... Pure fun. Last year when we did the engagement photos of Melissa and Adam, we knew that the wedding was going to be a lively one. The ceremony took place at the United Methodist Church in Newark Delaware and the Reception was held at the Red Clay Room in Kennet Square, PA. When Melissa and Adam entered the reception room, Austin and I set up in our usual spots to capture the first dance... about a minute into the dance the music stopped. I knew right away what was about to happen, so I quickly ran up to the other side of the dance floor to capture a first dance to be remembered. The music switched over to some Will Smith, getting jiggy with it, and Melissa and Adam broke out into a series of dance moves that had the whole place cheering and laughing. We definitely saw some staple dance moves like: the sprinkler, the worm, the dip, the jiggy, etc and ended with a flip. The rest of night was one big party, and I am glad that Austin and I got to be part of it.

Kristen and Shane- Engaged Cape May, NJ

Kristen and Shane are getting married at the end of this month, and we squeezed in their engagement photos just in time. We actually had to reschedule this session 3 times because of the weather. We finally got a gorgeous night to head down the shore for this session. We started off in town walking around the beach before we headed off to catch the sunset. This session was a lot of fun and we cant wait for their wedding!

Julie and Todd- Married The Mansion in Voorhees, NJ

Last year I met Julie when she was a bridesmaid in the wedding of Karen and John on the 4th of July. That night Julie said to me that I was going to be her photographer one day when she got married. It wasnt even a year later, and there I was getting ready to watch Julie head down the aisle. That particular moment was my favorite part of the entire wedding day. When Julie was about to head down the aisle, everyone turned to the back to watch her.... Well, that is, except me. I was watching Todd, and I knew the exact moment that he saw her, because with everyone facing away I was the only person that saw Todd say.... "Wow"... Now, I try my best at weddings not to tear up behind the lens, but it was difficult with these two. They have a chemistry that is undeniable, and the way that Todd looked at Julie all night was a true expression of that. Julie and Todd have a son named Brennen, that made for a ridiculously cute ring bearer. When I was talking to Todd about which photos they wanted Brennen to be in he said "Any of them.... its his wedding too". Seriously... Todd seems to always have the right thing to say. It reminds me of how Dermot Mulroney has the best lines in the movie the Wedding Date....

Last night we went up to the Evesham fireworks, so I brought along a camera to try and get some shots of the fireworks. We had a great view of the fireworks... Enjoy.

Erica and John- Engaged Ocean City, NJ

When we got started shooting Erica and John's engagement session I knew it was going to be a good one. I asked Erica if she was nervous at all about shooting with all the people on the boardwalk and she said "I just don't want a seagull to poop on me". Trying to keep in good spirits I responded "ahhh... I doubt it". So, as we were getting ready for the first shot of the day, I hear Erica say "ewww"... Yep, you guessed it... she was hit with a little flyby pooping from one of our friendly Ocean City Seagulls. But, you know what they say about getting pooped on by a bird is that it's good luck. So, for that reason alone I really hope that Erica loves these photos. We had a really good time with these two walking around the beach and the boardwalk and finishing up the day under the pier.

Michele and Dan- Engaged Valley Green Park Philadelphia, PA

I never knew that Fairmount Park in Philadelphia had so many hidden little treasures until we set out to Valley Green Park with Michele and Dan. It felt like we were far from city life in this green wooded area with streams and nature trails, but we really were just a few minutes from Center City. Michele said that she used to come to this park when she was a kid, and had a few thinking spots back within the trails. We also got to meet Barkley the Boston Terrier during this shoot. I have to say that this was the most behaved Boston I have ever been around, and he was great in front of the camera. We had such a good time at this shoot with these two silly lovebirds that we cant wait for their wedding this fall.

Christine and Rich -Married Brigalias Sicklerville, NJ

I am very excited to get this blog post together, and there are a lot of photos in this one because I just couldn't decide on my favorites. These two are great in photos, which left me with a lot of favorites. Christine works like a model in front of the camera, and it doesn't hurt that she is gorgeous. We started off the day at Annunciation Church in Bellmawr, NJ which is the same church where Austin and I were married, so its one of my favorite churches to shoot at. This wedding also had another one of my favorite things.... little kids. There were 4 cuties in this wedding that I couldn't get enough of. After the ceremony, Christine and Rich had their reception at Brigalias in Sicklerville, NJ. Brigalias is such a beautiful property, that we made sure to get some great formals despite the rainy weather. The weather held out just long enough for us to get some shots of the couple outside, and it was definitely worth it. These two are great people individually, but they make an even better couple. They are such a fun couple to be around that on our way home Austin said to me "Can we be friends with them?". The photos do an even better job explaining....

Christine and Rich -Engaged

Yes, I'm blogging. I know its tough to believe because its been so long, but here we are. Christine and Rich are going to be married this May, and after just shooting with them for this e-session we can't wait for their wedding day. Christine and I have actually been friends since we started playing softball together when we were kids. (If I find one of our old softball photos, I will post it later). Christine is still the same shy girl that she was back then. When I asked Christine where Rich was from, she said he was from the same town as we were, but because he went to different schools they never met growing up. The best part of the story about Christine and Rich meeting was that even though they lived less than 2 miles apart, they actually met out of state while on vacation. Rich really brings out Christine's personality, and I know that their wedding this spring is going to be a blast.

It's not wedding season.. So, what are we up to?

As most of you know, we don't shoot many weddings during January and February so I bet you are wondering what we have been up to. Well, I have been spending most of my time working on albums, and new sample products for 2011. My 2011 brides have some great new products to choose from including leather guestbooks with black pages that your guests can sign using gel pens. I am so excited to be getting ready for this year's weddings. Stay tuned because we have some great stuff coming up including some engagement sessions and portrait shoots. I am also going to try and get some other stuff up from this past year that never made it to the blog.

So, if I am concentrating on editing and albums you might think that Austin has been just hanging out watching football, but anyone who knows us knows that wouldn't be the case. Austin has been hard at work remodeling our family room. We have wanted to rip down the walls in the family room and start from scratch since we moved in, so its so exciting that we are finally doing it. We ripped everything, and I mean everything out, replaced the windows and doors,tore down the brick fireplace, built new studs, tore out the ceiling, put in recessed lighting, and ran all the electrical so far. Austin's dad has been over nearly every weekend helping out, and we are getting close to it finally coming together (even though we don't have walls yet). You can see some of progression below:

The Wedding Season for 2010 brought Austin and I many great couples and families, and not to mention some really great weddings. One of the best parts of the wedding day for us is when we get to make images of the freestyle dancing of our couples and their friends and family. Baby Peyton, Newborn Christmas Photos

I am so excited to be posting these photos of baby Peyton. Last year I shot the wedding of her parents Alison and John, and earlier this year we photographed her aunt Dani and uncle Jimmy's wedding. When I saw Ali at the rehearsal for Dani's wedding in April she told me that she was pregnant. I was so excited for them, because I knew that Ali and John were going to make great parents. Days after Peyton was born, I got an e-mail from Ali asking if I could do some photos of the baby. Even though I am super busy, I knew there was no way I was going to miss out on this. I love babies, and this little one happened to be exceptionally cute. Congratulations to Alison and John on their new little bundle of joy, and the great family that Peyton has to look forward to being part of.

Surprise Proposal Shoot- Pat and Hillary Voorhees, NJ

Earlier this week I got a message from my friend Shannon asking me if I would do a proposal shoot for she and her boyfriend George's friend Pat who was proposing to his girlfriend Hillary this Saturday. Now, of course I was up for it, because this would be my first proposal shoot, and something totally different from all the other shoots I have done. George and his friends helped Pat plan the proposal, and came up with the idea to have George call Pat and tell him that he wanted him to meet him out at the Main Street pub after dinner because he had an "imaginary" quarrel with his girlfriend Shannon. So, Pat planned a nice dinner over in Center City Philadelphia, stopped in a Martini bar and walked around Christmas village. Meanwhile, Austin and I had already arrived at the Main Street Pub to plan out where we were going to hide for their arrival. Needless to say, Pat was about 40 minutes late, and it was 36 degrees outside. Austin and I hid in the bushes and behind a fountain wall for over an hour waiting for them to arrive in the freezing cold. When they arrived, Hillary had absolutly no idea, and as soon as Pat started to get down on one knee, we popped out of our hiding spots and started shooting. At the same time, many of Pat's and Hillary's family and friends came out from the pub cheering and spraying champagne. Congrats Pat and Hillary!

Jessica and Trent- Married Terra Nova Sewell, NJ

We met Jessica and Trent through one of our favorite hair stylists, Dawn, who had done the updo's of a few of my brides, and worked with me at a boudoir model photoshoot in Philadelphia. When Dawn contacted me and told me that she wanted me to shoot her twin sister Jessica's wedding this November, I was both flattered and excited. Jessica and Trent actually had 2 weddings. The first wedding was in St. Lucia at the Sandals resort. Then, Jessica and Trent had this wedding when they got home a couple weeks later so that all of their loved ones could see them get married and celebrate with them. We are so grateful that we were part of their day. The reception was held at Terra Nova in Sewell, NJ. This whole family was full of energy, and we are so glad that Jessica and Trent had a wedding that they could share with family and friends.

Felicia and Weston- Married Luciens Manor Berlin, NJ

Ever since Felicia and Weston's engagement session we have been looking forward to this wedding. These two are great in front of the camera, and being around them feels like hanging out with friends that we have known for years.

The ceremony was held at the Kingston christian church in Cherry Hill, NJ and was followed by the reception at Luciens Manor in Berlin, NJ. The room that Felicia and Weston chose was gorgeous and the tables were decorated with candy apples and red roses. I can't even begin to explain how stunning Felicia looked. The look on Weston's face as she was walking down the aisle was priceless, and the whole place was teary-eyed. It was so nice to be able to capture the wedding day of these two high school sweethearts.

Jenny and Mike- Married Valleybrook Country Club Blackwood, NJ

Last weekend Austin and I spent the day shooting the wedding of one of our favorite couples, Jenny and Mike. These two are so much fun to be around, and all they were worried about all day was that their guests were going to have a great time. While Jenny was getting ready she asked me if I was going to be dancing at the reception. I told her that I would be working, but she was insistent that she would get me out on the dance floor at some point in the night. Even despite everything going on, Jenny didn't forget, and she pulled me out onto the dance floor with her. She wanted to make sure that even though I was working, that we were having a good time. That is just the kind of people that Jenny and Mike are, and they truly care about their family and friends.

The ceremony was held outside at the Valleybook Country Club, and was aisle was decorated in colorful mums and rose petals. Jenny made a stunning bride, and she was one of the happiest brides I have ever been around. They had an extended reception, because they knew it was going to be quite a party. The dance floor was packed until the very last song of the night, and . This couple really has something special, and Austin and I hope to be seeing them much more after they get home from their honeymoon in Jamaica.

Melissa and Adam- Engaged Bellevue State Park Wilmington, DE

Last weekend we went down to shoot Melissa and Adam's engagement session at the Bellevue State Park in Wilmington, DE. As soon as we were driving in I knew I was going to love the location that they selected, because I fell in love with these gorgeous yellow fields. I am currently replacing my obsession with whispy's with tall yellow fields and Willow trees after this session. Melissa and Adam were so much fun to work with. They are an absolutely adorable and silly couple. They started off the day wearing their wedding colors and finished up the shoot in their Phillies gear. We always love working with some Phillies fans.. espcially since we are so excited about the playoffs starting this week. There was a lot of laughter during this engagement shoot, which was totally fine with me, because Melissa has the best smile. Her smile completely lights up her face, and I can't wait until their wedding next July.

Patruno Family

So, anyone who talks to me on the regular has heard many of stories about the adorable kids who come to visit their grandparents next door to us. Austin and I are so fortunate to have such great neighbors who have returned my runaway dog when I was shooting a wedding one Saturday, have saved my car by letting me know I left the top down in the rain, share their Phillies tickets, and being Italian.. are always trying to feed us.. So, when their daughter Michelle told me that she wanted to give her mom a family portrait session of her kids and grandkids for her birthday, we were more than excited. There are 5 grandkids in the family, and they are all so cute, that I have spent plenty of Sundays on the front lawn with them playing tag and picking flowers. I love being around little kids, because everything that they say and do makes me laugh.

We decided that the beach in Sea Isle would be a great place to take the photos, and it happens to be where they spent their family vacation this summer, so it was a perfect setting for a family photo.

One thing that only took about 5 minutes to realize was that being at the beach in September was quite confusing to the little ones. Clearly, there are much better things to do at the beach like:

Miss Giana Rose

Its rare that I get to do any kids portraits, because I am usually too busy with weddings, but I have to say that this was one of my favorite sessions in a while. Kids have an innocence and energy that can't even be explained, but I know it makes me happy just being around them. Giana Rose is the daughter of my sister's friends Alicia and Nicky, and she is one of the cutest little kids I have ever been around. Giana is going into 1st grade this year, and she got some new boots for school, but she couldn't wait to wear them. This little girl is such a doll, and a pleasure to have around, because she really believes that she is an adult. Alicia and Nicky, I hope you love these photos as much as I do!

Megan and Mike-Married Adelphias Deptford, NJ

I know that I haven't blogged in a while because I have been working on albums, thank-you cards and edits from all of this summer's weddings. I figured I would take my Saturday night to put together a new blog post.

I second shot Megan and Mike's wedding with my friend Nate Juliano . Nate had recently had MCL surgery, so part of my job for the day was to carry all of our equipment. I knew my P90x weighlifting skills would eventually come in handy for a wedding! I have to say though, the next day was a sore one. Nate snapped this photo of me on the wedding day, and then he labeled the equipment that I was carrying. He tagged me on facebook with this photo, and I thought it was too funny not to share here. So, here is a pic of me being hercules on Megan and Mike's wedding day.

Megan and Mike's wedding took place in Marlton, NJ and then the reception was held at one of my favorite reception locations, Adelphia's in Deptford, NJ. These two are adorable together. Megan looked gorgeous, and the day was perfect.

Its crazy that it was a full year ago that we sat in the hospital through the night waiting for this little guy to arrive. Our nephew turned one on Wednesday, and we celebrated yesterday at Austins dad's house. The Mickey Mouse themed party turned out great, and it was nice to share the day with family. Now, I may be a little biased, but I really think that we have the cutest little nephew ever. As he gets older I seem to think he looks more and more like his dad, but he was also lucky to get his mom's gorgeous green eyes. Don't you just want to squeeze him? So cute...

Karen and John- Married Tavistock Country Club Haddonfield, NJ

A few weeks ago I posted a sneak peek of Karen and John's 4th of July wedding, and now not I only do I have some more photos, but I have a slideshow of the gorgeous day. John and Karen got married at the same church where Karen's parents were married in Woodbury, NJ at the Southwood Baptist Church. After the ceremony, we went over to Tavistock Country Club in Haddonfield, NJ for the reception. I love that Karen chose to accent the bridesmaid's navy blue dresses with chartreuse which is one of my favorite shades of green. And Karens dress, wow... what can I say? Karen's dress was definitely one of my favorites from this year. The sparkly detailing was so pretty, and Karen looked so gorgeous. Since it was the 4th of July we just had to finish off the night with some sparkler shots.

Felicia and Weston - Engaged Cape May, NJ

When Felicia had contacted me about her engagement session she mentioned that she would love to do some photos during sunset at Sunset Beach in Cape May. I have been to Cape May a handful of times and knew it couldn't be too far from the area I was familiar with, but I had never been to Sunset beach. So, we planned to start out on the little Cape May boardwalk, and then head down to Sunset beach when the sun went down. We had a great time at the boardwalk area, and found a bunch of little places to shoot before taking a walk on the beach. Since sunset was at 8:24, we headed to Sunset beach at 8pm. Well, the ride to this beach was on a single lane road with plenty of traffic. When we arrived at the beach, there was no where to park because they have a nightly ceremony to watch the sunset and the National Anthem is played along with bagpipes. We didn't really get a chance to enjoy the ceremony because Felicia and I jumped out of the cars and looked for a spot on the pebble beach while Austin and Weston literally ran after parking the cars to make it back before the sun had completely set. I have to say, that despite the shuffle, it was totally worth it. The sunset pics are some of my favorites, and I'm so glad they picked that spot. I can't wait for their wedding this October.

Rebecca and Justin- Married Aulettos Deptford, NJ

Last Saturday Austin and I spent the day with our awesome bride and groom Rebecca and Justin. We started the day and D'Nicole Salon and Spa in Sewell, NJ where the entire bridal party was getting pampered for the day. The ceremony was held at the Sicklerville United Methodist church. After the ceremony, we went over to Aulettos in Deptford to get the party started. It was a shame that it was a rainy day, because Aulettos has a beautiful outside area for photos, but we still made the best of it and got some outside under the protection of an overhang.

Rebecca looked gorgeous, and the look on Justin's face as she came down the aisle brought tears to my own eyes. It was a beautiful day.

So, I have a few photos here with some stories. This first photo was mentioned about a week before the wedding that Becky and Justin wanted to do a group photo of their friends that were attending the wedding that they met at Delanco Christian Camp. When I asked how many people were in this shot they simply said "a lot"... Well, they weren't kidding!

So, this next little series is my bust a move series from our groom. In the time that we spent with Rebecca and Justin before the wedding they were great to work with, always friendly, and I would even go ahead to describe Justin as a little shy or quiet. Well, let me tell you that my impression of Justin being shy or quiet was completely put away as soon as the dance floor opened up. Justin was out there all night. I love seeing the bride and groom have a great time at their wedding and this crowd keep the dancefloor busy all night. So, Justin this is my little series dedicated to some of your best dance moves.

Last year I was at the Lady Gaga concert with my sister when I saw some friends that I grew up with. They mentioned that our friend Dana was getting married and that I should shoot the wedding. Needless to say, the next day there was an e-mail from Dana in my inbox about shooting her wedding the following June. This wedding was extra special to me because I have known Dana since the first grade. Growing up Dana and I went to school, cheerleading, and OM together. Now 20 years later, I was there to capture the 2nd most important day of Dana's life. It was pointed out to us that this was the 2nd most important day in Dana and Dave's life by Dave's father during his toast. The number 1 most important day in Dana and Dave's life was 22 months ago when they welcomed baby Hannah into the world. Last weekend their daughter made the cutest and most well behaved little flower girl I have ever seen. I am beyond happy for my longtime friend to have found love and happiness in Dave and beautiful little Hannah.

Nothing like heading over to Philly for an Engagement shoot, because you never know what you are going to get! We started off at Love Park with Tara and Steve and got some time with the Love sign in between the many tourists. After some time in Center City, we headed over to Fairmont Park/Waterworks for some more relaxed shots. Tara and Steve were such good sports about my silly ideas. When the water-ice truck came singing by I looked at them and said "Do you guys like waterice?...", but I am glad that I did because it made for some really cute shots. We really had a good time with these two.

A visitor - Our nephew

This weekend Austin's sister Erica stopped by with her son Alex to visit. Because Austin and I work so much we don't get to see this little guy too often, and it's very exciting when we do get to see him. Of course I'm biased because he is my nephew, but this little guy is just the cutest thing. I have never seen a baby that laughs so much. I really can't believe Alex is going to be 1 at the end of July. It seems like only weeks ago that we sat in the hospital through the night waiting for him to arrive. Austin and I cherish the time that we get to spend with our only nephew, and I always grab a few shots of him whenever I can. This poor kid isn't going to recognize me unless I have a camera in front of my face.....

Joanna and Rick- Married Massos Crystal Manor Glassboro, NJ

Normally, most brides take precautions before their wedding avoiding dangerous sports, outside activities, and illness so that they are well for their wedding day. Well, on Saturday when I arrived at our bride Joanna's getting ready location I found out that she had sprained her ankle earlier that morning from an incident with some high heel shoes. This little injury added a few little quandaries throughout the day, but it didn't stop Joanna and Rick from having a perfect wedding day. Our poor bride hobbled down the aisle, but what is any chivalrous groom to do, but to carry her back down the aisle for their grand exit. The ceremony was held outside in the nearby Garden area at Masso's, and it was not only a beautiful day, but a very personal ceremony. Austin and I are honored to have shot this wedding for such a great couple!

Jenna and Mark- Married Running Deer Golf Club Pittsgrove, NJ

Last Saturday the 15th of May Austin and I had the pleasure of shooting Jenna and Mark's beautiful wedding at the Running Deer Golf Club in Pittsgrove, NJ. It was an absolutely gorgeous day for an outdoor wedding, and it was full of sunshine and smiles. Jenna and Mark have a really special connection that is contagious to the people around them. We started out the day at the Martino Cartier at Giovanni and Pileggi salon in Sewell, NJ where Jenna's sister is a hairdresser. The day went perfectly smooth, and there were many emotional moments where I know my eyes were filling up behind the lens. Jenna's dance with her father had the whole room tearing up. One thing I can say about this crowd is that they knew how to party. There was no lack of dancing on that dancefloor all night, and they even extended the party. I absolutely love this couple, and everytime I look at these photos it makes me smile so I hope you love them too.

Dani and Jimmy- Married Williamstown & Merighi's Savoy Inn

A few days ago I posted a sneak peak image of Dani and Jimmy's wedding, and now I finally get to post some more images from their day. Dani and Jimmy got married at Our Lady of Peace in Williamstown, NJ. Their reception followed at Merighi's Savoy Inn located in Vineland, NJ. Last year Austin and I had the opportunity to shoot Dani's sister Ali's wedding, so we couldn't wait till the day came when we got to hang with this crowd again. We knew this wedding was going to be quite the party. Both Dani and Jimmy are blessed with great families, and from the moment we arrived, they made us feel welcome and excited to have us there on such a special day.

Dani made the most gorgeous bride, and I have to say how much I loved her dress and birdcage veil. Of course this wedding also had one of my favorite things: really cute kids. The ringbearer and flowergirls were too cute for words, and from the photos Austin took of the little guy I think they were having too much fun getting ready. The DJ kept the dance floor packed all night, and the party was even extended because everyone was having such a great time.

We left this wedding not only with great images, but a group of people who we can honestly call our friends.

Jenna and Mark- Engaged!

Last weekend Austin and I shot Jenna and Mark's engagement session with a guest appearance from Bo their bull terrier pup. These two are getting married next month, and we are so excited for their wedding. We had so much fun shooting their engagement session that we know their wedding is going to be a blast. These two are so cute together, and we love just being around such a fun, energetic couple. Jenna and Mark care for and train 30 race horses at Mark's family farm. We started out their e-session right there on the farm and in the peach orchard next door. Although we could have shot there all day, we headed over to Parvin state park just in time to catch the gorgeous sunset. We can't wait to see these two in just a few weeks for their wedding!

There are a few holidays where I get to do kid stuff, just by calling up my favorite two little girls and asking them to hang out with me. These two little ladies have been on my blog a handful of times, so many of you know that Victoria, the big sister was the flower girl in my wedding. So, yesterday I gave their mom a call to see if they were available to dye Easter Eggs. Their aunt Melanie who has also become a good friend of mine brought the girls over. We ordered chinese food, and broke out the egg decorating kits. This year we had 2 different egg kits. The first one was sponge rollers (Roll It), and the second was Mini Monsters. Always a great night with these two munchkins...

My sister also stopped over to see the girls and join in...

Kathleen and Dan- Engagment Party at the Pelican Restaurant -Sewell, NJ

Yesterday, I went to the The Pelican Restaurant in Sewell, NJ for Dan and Kathleen's engagement party. I have known Kathleen since I was in highschool, and she hasn't changed the slightest bit. Kathleen is still bubbly and always smiling, and now that she is engaged to Dan her smile has only gotten brighter. It was so nice to meet both Dan and Kathleen's family and friends. Everyone was so kind, including the staff at the Pelican Restaurant. The time that I spent there was filled with hugs, laughter, and some tears of joy after some very touching speeches. I wish these two the best of luck, and have fun planning your wedding!

Twilight inspired shoot... Austin as Edward

Its rare that I actually have the time to do a personal shoot just for fun, but this weekend Austin and I took the time to put together a Twilight inspired shoot. Our wedding season for this year is just about to kick off, so we wanted to do something creative before we get bogged down with lots of work.

So, I am late to the game on the whole Twilight thing/obsession. I really thought that it was just some vampire movie that teenage girls loved. Well, I was wrong. It's about love, and passion. We all know that I am a sucker for a love story, which is why I love shooting weddings so much. Anyways, I am officially on the Twilight bandwagon. Recently, Austin has had a lot of people say "hey, you look like that guy from Twilight".... of course this got my wheels turning and I thought... this would be so much fun to actually do a twilight-ish shoot with Austin being that everyone thinks he looks like the main character. I am very fortunate that my husband goes along with all my crazy ideas.

Austin and I have arrived safely home after our short vacation to Jamaica. The only thing I would have done differently if I were to replan the trip would have been to stay longer! We really didn't get to do everything we wanted to while we were in that gorgeous island. I can't say enough good things about our trip, and I can't wait to head back. Austin and I climbed Dunn's River Falls, and we also went up to Mystic Mountain where we rode the skylift, bobsled, and traversed down the ziplines. I only have a handful of photos from my camera, because it was too risky taking it out near the water. I did buy an underwater camera that I will be getting developed this week, so hopefully I got some good snorkeling pics with that. It could not be one of my vacations without something going wrong, so of course my website had to go down while I was away. I am actively working on getting it back up, and I'm crossing my fingers that I should be back up and running by this evening. In the meantime, here are some pics I took on our last day in Jamaica....

Haley's Batmitzvah - Bala Cynwood, PA

Yesterday, I took a hop over the bridge to second shoot for Michael Leslie at Haley's Batmitzvah. All I can say about this event is... wow! The decor was amazing, Haley and her sisters looked beautiful, and everyone there had an awesome time.

Did I mention the decor?... The table numbers were shortbread cookies..yum

This little one almost found her table number to be too exciting to resist... so cute..

In between the events... there were games set up for the kids with Rock band, Mario Kart, and DDR... They even had their own slushie station! Here is our birthday girl on drums..

DWF Photography Conference - Nashville, Tennessee

Well, I have definitely kicked off the new year in a great way. I just got back from Nashville for a Photography Conference and have arrived home having learned a lot, been inspired and excited for this coming year's photographic events. While we were there, I had the opportunity to do a shoot with some models. This shoot was so much fun. Rachel and Richard- Married Shamong, NJ

Yesterday Austin and I went out to the Pine Winds Zen Center for Rachel and Richard's afternoon winter wedding in Shamong, NJ. Rachel and Richard's wedding was a very intimate event with 12 guests, and really focused on their love for one another. Their children also each had a special part in the ceremony. This intimate ceremony focused on compassion, loving-kindness and respect for all. The Pine Winds website states "Zen - is a way of living your life, in a particular way, with a particular concentration of mind, a tranquil and simplicity of mind, that generates the experience of enlightenment and, through that experience, true and sustainable happiness." Rachel and Richard's wedding was a great way to close out our 2009 weddings with such a great couple.

Christmas Card

This was our Christmas Card this year. Every year I try to think of something silly that involves our beagle Lola. For this year's Christmas card I actually ended up drawing freehand the Charlie Brown scene and then placing Lola on top of the dog house. It was a lot of work, but I know it made my family and friends smile when they got it. We also got some great Christmas cards this year, and especially some great photo cards.

Jena and Joe- Married - Wilmington, DE Mendenhall Inn

Back in October Austin and I shot the wedding of Jena and Joe in Wilmington, De at the Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church. Their reception took place at the Mendenhall Inn in Chadds Ford, PA You may remember Jena and Joe as the couple that had their engagement photos takens with their horses. I have gotten so many comments about the "kissing horses" photo from that session. I learned quickly on the say of Jena and Joe's e-session how great they were in front of the camera, and I couldn't wait for their wedding. Jena looked stunning, and Joe looked quite handsome himself. This wedding was so much fun. Jena's twin sisters were the maids of honor and Joe's two brothers were the best men. Jena and Joe had a huge bridal party full of people that really care about them. Ok.. now on to some favorites:

Rebecca and Justin -Engaged

Last weekend Austin and I went out with Rebecca and Justin for their engagement shoot. I really should thank them for putting up with me that day because I drug them 20 minutes away, had them walking through weeds and plants that were at least knee high, and then walking down the unstable train track area. Rebecca and Justin were so patient and willing to go anywhere. On top of that, they had to deal with me not feeling well, but it was such a gorgeous day out that I still wanted to do the shoot and I'm so glad that we did. These two are so cute together, and we had a really good time. Also, there was some really awesome spraypaint under the overpass of the rainroad tracks that said "LOVE"... how perfect/appropriate was that? Austin and I can't wait until their wedding next July!

The week of Halloween we went up to Maple Shade to do some Pumpkin Carving with my two favorite little munchkins Tori and Amanda. This has become sort of a tradition with us, and I'm so glad that I get to share this with them. I coached Tori at cheerleading when she was 5 years old, and I cant believe she is 9 now! Her little sister Amanda wasn't even two years old when I first met them. Tori was also the flower girl in our wedding. I am so fortunate to have this family in my life and look forward to many more pumpkin carving, egg dying, and fun stuff that we get to do with them.

Karen and John- Engaged Boat House Row/Waterworks Philadelphia

Last weekend Austin and I went over to the Boat House Row/ Waterworks area of Philadelphia for Karen and John's engagement shoot. The weather was a perfect fall day and the light was beautiful. This was the first time that we have shot at this location, and there were so many great little spots. I wanted these photos to really have a fall day feel to them. Apparently, I was into sunflare that day as well, but with the low fall sunset we were able to get some really pretty sunflare shots. We cant wait for Karen and John's wedding this coming summer!

2 Days off for Vacation = Enjoying the Fall Season

Austin and I live what others have called an "all work and no play" lifestyle, and it's rare that we take a day off. Since we didn't take any vacation time this summer, we realized that we needed a couple days to ourselves. Of course with all the work that we still have lined up we decided to take a mini-vaca of 2 days off. Well, after we decided that we had 2 days to ourselves we needed something fun to do. We knew that we didnt want to venture far from home. Since we feel like we missed out on Summer, we decided that we were going to enjoy a couple days of the Fall Season.

So, We came up with a great day off plan that we were going to go pick our own apples, and make specialty caramel apples for our family as a surprise to them... I will tell the rest of the story with the photos.....

The only thing I could have asked for was that we got a little more time to pick our apples, because I felt a little rushed, but thats because we were still picking and everyone on our hayride was already back on and ready for the next stop

The hayride also made a stop at the pumpkin patch, so Austin picked a few pumpkins for us as well...

I was more interested in the sunflowers in the pumkin patch

We spent the rest of the day running from store to store to get all the ingredients we needed for our apples. The list of stores is as follows..

We put 4 apples each in Halloween bowls that we bought and surprised our family members with them. After making these I understand why they cost so much in the store because they are so much work. We were only gone from the house delivering the apples for about 2 hours when we returned home to this disaster...

Lola was very interested in all the ingredients that were in the trash from the caramel apples, so she ripped it apart while we were gone. Go figure.... still, it was a fun day...

Crystal and Jeff-Married

On Sunday, Austin and I spent the day at the Valleybrook Golf Club in Blackwood, NJ. This is the first time that I got to shoot at Valleybrook, and it is literally blocks from where we live. I started the day at Crystal and Jeff's house with the girls and Austin spent some time with the guys getting ready at Jeff's parent's house.

Crystal and Jeff had the most beautiful day for an outdoor ceremony. The sun was shining and the sky was as blue as ever. Crystal looked beautiful, and the look on Jeff's face as she headed down the isle said it all.

Crystal and Jeff had great families that made us feel so welcome, and we were even pulled onto the dancefloor for the last song of the night by Jeff's parents. I hope Crystal and Jeff are having a great time on their honeymoon in Riviera Maya Mexico.

Crystal and Jeff - Engaged

Last Sunday we went down to Haddon Lake Park in Haddonfield, NJ to shoot Crystal and Jeff's engagement session. Crystal and Jeff brought along Deuce, their dog, to be in some of the photos. Well, there were so many things for him to be excited about that he was tough to get in a photo. He also happened to be incredibly strong, so Jeff was getting pulled around while we tried to get a few shots with him in it. The great thing about having a silly dog around is that they always make you laugh. Crystal and Jeff are getting married this Sunday, and I can't believe their wedding has creeped up on us so fast. The weather is looking to be gorgeous for this Sunday, and I know that it is going to be a perfect day for these two.

Jena and Joe - Engaged Wilmington,DE

Today... yes, you heard that correctly Today, we went down to Wilmington, DE to meet up with Jena and Joe for their engagement photos at the stables where their horses are kept. I can't even begin to talk about how cool this place was to shoot at. Austin and I could have stayed there all day because we had so many ideas. It was our longest e-session ever, but we couldnt get enough of this place.

Jena and Joe each have their own horse. I haven't really spent much time around horses before, and I was a little apprehensive, but they were very friendly. Austin and I were impressed with how well behaved they were and how they weren't scared of the cameras. Joe even offered to put a saddle on the horse so that I could go for a ride, but I was being a wimp and took a rain check. I've never been on a horse before so I am definitely going to take them up on that offer sometime. We are excited for Jena and Joe's Wedding coming up in October!

And now.... a few favorites from today...

I love this little series because I said .... "Ok, lean in and give your woman a kiss".... Jena's instinct was to lean in and give her horse a kiss, but I really meant for Joe to give Jena a kiss so we all started cracking up. I'm really glad it happened, because we got such cute photos from that moment"

And then...... when Joe did actually lean in to give Jena a kiss, the horses came together at the same time! I love this one!

Amanda and Jim- Trash the Dress "TTD"

I am so excited to post these pictures. Austin and I had soooo much fun with Amanda and Jim this past Sunday at the Ocean City Boardwalk in Ocean City, NJ for their Trash the Dress session. Amanda and Jim gave us complete creative freedom, and they were up for any idea I had. This session was so much fun, I really could not wait to get home and start editing them. Creative freedom also meant that I got to play with my new toys including off camera lighting and my new lensbaby that Austin bought me for my birthday.

For those of you who don't know what a Trash the Dress session is, this is a chance for you to get back into that gorgeous wedding gown of yours and head out to take some photos in it without worrying about it getting dirty. I have to say that Trash the Dress sessions might be my favorite thing to shoot, because we can relax, have some fun, and shoot some photos. So, I'm going to warn you.... I had A LOT of favorites from this session so there are going to be a lot of photos..... enjoy...
